EVENTS

It’s time for Spring Cleaning! Let’s clean out our closets and get rid of the clothes that we can no longer wear. Our Outreach Ministry is hosting a Goodwill Clothing Drive located in the drive-up lanes by the lower field. We are accepting new and very gentle worn clothing for all ages.
FAQ:
1. What happens to the items I donate to Goodwill?
When you donate, you help put people to work. How? The items you donated are sorted, priced and sold in our stores. We then use the money from the sale of these items to fund job training programs and employment services. Each year, we serve tens of thousands of individuals and help place them into good jobs. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many of your North Georgia neighbors.
2. What does Goodwill accept as donations?
We accept clothing, shoes, accessories, books, furniture, small appliances, household items, CDs/videotapes/DVDs/records, linens, and sporting equipment. While we like to say we can accept almost anything, there are a few items we cannot accept, including anything that is ripped, damaged, or broken. Click here to review a list of items we can and cannot accept (https://goodwillng.org/ways-to-support/donate-goods/items-we-do-and-dont-accept/).
3. What happens to donated items Goodwill can’t sell?
Our goal is to be good stewards of your generosity. We have recycling programs that allows us to minimize our environmental footprint. We recycle items we cannot sell through qualified salvage dealers including e-waste. In fact, Goodwill of North Georgia has redirected more than 48 million pounds from landfills – including one million pounds of e-waste – in the last fiscal year.
4. Can I claim an IRS deduction for items I donate?
Yes. Goodwill of North Georgia is a 501 (3)(c) nonprofit organization. According to the IRS, donated goods (in good, used condition, or better) made to us are tax-deductible. We will provide you with a receipt once you’ve made a donation to keep for your tax records.
5. Who does Goodwill help?
Everyone. Goodwill helps people who face various obstacles to employment, including lack of work history; physical, mental and emotional disabilities; limited education; language barriers; criminal background; dependency on public assistance; corporate downsizing and other challenges that stand in the way to employment. Our training and placement services are available to anyone who needs them.
