Keep My Name In Your Mouth
Jul 8, 2025

Revelation 3:15-16 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
There’s a book that Dr. Jamal Bryant recently read and recommended to the church for a reading: “$1.9 Trillion Spent: Love Letters From Corporate Brands To The Black Community” by Carter Rankin.
In the book, Carter Rankin examines how our community spends $1.9 trillion annually. With this spending, collectively, the black community can buy Apple, Tesla, and Netflix with change left over. We spend as a community, $3.8 million a minute and $5.5 billion a day. One of the areas where we spend the most without giving it a thought is on chewing gum. We spend $120 million a year on chewing gum, and the black community accounts for 25% of the sales. However, there is not one major chewing gum brand in America that is black-owned or has a black person on its board of directors.
Our focal text shows the Spirit of God visiting a city called Laodicea. It was a city of extreme wealth, opulence, decadence, and lavishness. The region became wealthy because of its expensive and rare wool. Oddly enough, the city of Laodicea only produces black sheep.
However, the Angel came with a message that they were lukewarm. Choose whether you will be hot or cold. Pick a side. Dr. Bryant shared that even if you pick the side of cold, God can heat you. Jeremiah said he would not speak again, but then he said, ‘It feels like fire shut up in my bones.’
Verse 14 shows the Angel announcing the message from Amen. It reads, “To the Angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.
We end our prayers with “Amen,” affirming that it is so, it shall be so, and it is already done. Take note that the Angel began the announcement by stating these words are from “Amen”.
If anyone tries to sabotage your life, ruin you, and ridicule you, remember the words of Amen:
No weapon formed against you will be able to prosper -Amen.
You are healthy and wealthy -Amen.
You are the first and not the last -Amen.
You are the head and not the tail- Amen.
You are blessed in the city, in the fields, and everywhere you go – Amen.
You are New Birth strong-Amen!
