You’re Not Speaking My Language – Dr. Jamal Bryant and Dr. Karri Bryant – Sunday, February 15
Dr. Jamal Bryant and Dr. Karri Bryant led New Birth in a Valentine’s weekend message rooted in Acts 2 titled “You’re Not Speaking My Language.” The service opened with worship and prayer, thanking God for His unrelenting love and calling the church back to its first love, God.
Using the Pentecost story as a framework, they taught that unity does not require sameness, but it does require humility, maturity, and a willingness to understand people who are different. They addressed how a “spirit of offense” fuels division, insecurity, unforgiveness, and broken relationships, and urged believers to be intentional about listening before judging.
The sermon applied the message to relationships, especially marriage, emphasizing that people communicate differently and that many relationships fail when partners refuse to learn each other’s “language.” Dr. Karri outlined how women often communicate differently when they feel loved and safe versus when they feel unsafe or disrespected, and Dr. Jamal added insight on how men process, including that silence is not necessarily disconnection.
They taught that the foundation for healthy communication is communication with God through prayer, describing prayer as a two-way relationship that shapes how we speak to one another. The congregation was led in a moment of intercession, praying for loved ones and declaring that the Holy Spirit would fill their homes, bringing peace, safety, healing, and alignment.
The message closed with a call to be “filled with the Holy Ghost,” praising loudly and freely, and believing for transformation in families and relationships.
